Entrepreneurship for Wellness

This week's guest is the ultimate entrepreneur! She has founded/co-founded two successful businesses with social missions.

I couldn't be more excited than to have a conversation with Dr. Cindy Trice about how we can improve our wellness, have more Time, Energy, and Freedom through entrepreneurship, and how she's making it easy for her fellow veterinarians.

Our conversation will tackle your tough questions and share lessons learned from both Angela and Cindy:

  • Career transitions, how and when to make the leap (even if you don't quite know where you want to end up.
  • The ups and downs of entrepreneurship
  • How Angela lost her job and recreated her 37.5 hr work-week salary working only 2.5 days a week in the gig economy and spends her mornings riding her horse!

*Disclaimer: We can't legally provide specific healthcare advice for you or your family, and the podcast is for entertainment purposes only.

We will have an honest conversation about how to get your questions answered, what the science says and where to keep up to date on reliable information.

The Future of Medicine: Remote Monitoring Of Patients

innovation Sep 24, 2021

I couldn't be more excited than to have a great conversation with my guest this week on Beyond the Stethoscope Podcast!

Many of you are aware of my interest and dedication to innovation to improve the lives of people and animals, well, Joshua Budman is doing just that with remote monitoring of diabetes patients and those with chronic illness.

When I heard this, I thought, WOW! that technology has so many applications in both the human and veterinary health space, how cool would it be to improve our treatment effectiveness by remotely monitoring cats with high blood pressure or our diabetic patients who don't always want to eat...

I'm excited to learn more and see where the conversation goes.  If you'd love to listen in and get your questions answered in real-time, please join us on Tuesday at 1 pm EST.

Reserve your spot here--space is limited.

Is Purpose Pointless?

podcast purpose Sep 10, 2021

I'm looking forward to learning more about what my guest this week on Beyond The Stethoscope podcast has to say about purpose and choosing the transformation we don't really want.

When the titles of his keynote addresses seem to be in direct contrast with what all of the experts and gurus are telling us, you know it's going to be a great conversation with all NEW perspectives on these topics...

OR WILL IT?

There is only one way to find out, Join me and Dan Mangena on Tuesday at 1 pm, listen in, and ask your questions LIVE!

How to ADD more time!

If you've ever uttered the phrase, "But you don't understand, I just don't have enough time!"

You are not alone.

It's one of my favorite go-to's when I'm feeling stress and overwhelm and a clue to me that I need to get off the hamster wheel, yet again, get refocused, and get back to the tried and true formulas and equations that have stopped overwhelm dead in its tracks

Are we bending time and space with a crazy mathematical equation?

No, but that does sound like a fun way to spend a Friday afternoon (don't worry, no calculus is required for this activity!)

To ADD more time we need to Automate, Delegate, or Delete tasks that aren't bringing us joy, can be delegated for fewer dollars per hour than we currently make, or don't need to be done by anyone.

Remember the 80/20 rule? 20% of the activities yield 80% of the outcome.  So what are the 20% that you need to keep doing and can you delete the other 80%?  *GASP*

I get it,...

How to deal with Bullies!

We are speaking with Marilise de Villiers, author of ROAR! How to tame the bully inside and out this week on the BTS podcast.

Here's your chance to get all of your questions about how to deal with bullies and make sure you aren't one answered LIVE and meet the author.

Many of us have a story about being bullied or remember a time when, *gasp* we might have been a bully.

While deployed, I was bullied by a higher-ranking female officer, and it was the single most difficult situation I had to navigate during that year-long deployment.

It was the one situation that the Army didn't train me on.

We had extensive training on how to handle weapons systems, I'm now trained in six weapons systems, quite literally "rode shotgun" in a vehicle while deployed, can clear an AK-47 off the battlefield, and was trained in hand-to-hand combat with the enemy.

But what happens when it's your battle buddy that's the bully?  How do we navigate...

How to have more fun!

dreaming friendship fun values Jul 24, 2021

Last year, I invited Aarti Tejuja on the podcast to share a story about shared values and friendship from our youth.

In the middle of the pandemic, it was the kind of story that rekindled friendships and provided some sense of hope and shared humanity in the world.

I couldn't be more excited than to announce she'll be on the podcast again on Tuesday, July 27th to share her best tips around how to find more Joy in life and start dreaming again.

Remember back when we were kids and spent all day laying down in the grass looking up at the clouds with our imaginations running wild.  The possibilities before us for all life could hold? The fun and freedom we had just riding our bikes with the wind in our hair and the sun shining down?

When did that get replaced with the day-to-day rushing from task to task on our never-ending to-do lists? and more importantly, why did we allow that to occur?

So if you want to take a bit of time this summer to...

Struggle Less and Accomplish More!

I couldn't be more excited to talk with Dr. Melanie Barham.  She unabashedly follows her dreams and turns them into reality.

But how does she do it with such grace and apparent ease (and so quickly?!) Things like, oh, launching a global summit, successfully, in only 3 months!

Those of you who have been following @DEMAREEDVM on social media, reading the blog, or listening to the podcast, probably already know that I'm all about finding that leverage point, that strategy, that key decision that unlocks our sticking points and catapults us forward, so I already know you'll love Dr. Melanie's insights and best tips!

We are going to answer your most pressing questions that I've been fielding all year like:

  • Is it possible to have a work-life balance AND accomplish an ambitious goal?
  • Can I have more than one priority at a time and still move a dream forward?
  • When do I know it's time to quit a project?
  • How can I apply project management and productivity hacks to...

Positive Culture Wins in Business and in Life!

Buzz Word Alert!

Cultivating a positive culture is something we hear about on the news and in the workplace. Sometimes it's effective and other times, it's not.

I'd be willing to hazard a guess that you've also sat through a meeting at some point where the executives all patted themselves on the back for a job well done.

They organized a keynote speaker, facilitator, or highly paid consultant, and yet, you and your colleagues, the ones who knew exactly what would improve the culture and strategic insight for real-world outcomes -- were never asked your opinions or insights...

So the effort fell flat, was swept under the table, and wasn't discussed again until the board had new members, about 5-6 years later.

Like you, I've had this experience and I'm always asking "What can we learn to become better leaders and be happier in life?"

Part of the Beyond The Stethoscope Mission is to bring the experts to you, those you may not have yet met, and who can...

Imposter Syndrome, Overwhelm and Burnout...

Next week's live recording of Beyond the Stethoscope we are welcoming back, Dr. Shelley Prevost to the podcast!

Do you have so many questions about Imposter Syndrome?  I know I do.

  • Is Imposter Syndrome the same as being or feeling uncomfortable while you are learning something new?
  • Why do some people identify with it and others don't -- even when they are experiencing similar feelings?
  • Is it overused or incorrectly used?  What's the true definition and can it lead to Overwhelm or *gasp* even burnout?

Dr. Shelley Prevost is an educational psychologist and leadership coach with a diverse professional background.

In 2019, she launched a coaching business designed specifically to help entrepreneurs navigate the emotional and mental landmines that come with starting a company.

In addition to coaching, Shelley is also co-founder and active investor with the JumpFund, an angel fund investing in women-led high-growth startups in the Southeast.

Shelley was the Director...
